Terms of service
Boundaries is offered free of charge as an open reference. These are the terms on which it is published, and the limits of what it warrants.
What this site is
Boundaries is an open reference archive of Indian assembly constituency delimitation. It is maintained by one person, offered free of charge, and published in the belief that the record of how these boundaries moved ought to be available to anyone who wants it.
Using the site means accepting the terms set out on this page.
Accuracy
Every effort is made to reconstruct the record faithfully from the delimitation orders and the Election Commission's published reports, and the archive documents its own weaknesses in detail on the limitations page. It is nonetheless a reconstruction. Territory shares are measured from digitised maps that do not register perfectly against one another, some boundaries in the source data are known to be wrong, and errors will remain that have not yet been found.
The archive is provided as it stands, without warranty of any kind. It should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any legal, electoral, commercial or academic claim. Where a figure matters, check it against the primary order. No liability is accepted for any loss arising from reliance on anything published here.
Use and attribution
You are free to read, quote, cite, teach from and build on this archive. Attribution is asked for rather than demanded, and a link to the state page you drew on is enough.
Bulk automated downloading that degrades the site for other readers is not permitted. If you want the underlying data in bulk, write and ask; it will usually be given.
The underlying delimitation orders and Election Commission reports are Government of India publications and carry their own terms. The digitised boundary sources are credited on each state page and carry the licences of their respective authors.
Signing in
You need to sign in with Google to read and view the site. Signing in is free: there is no fee, subscription or payment of any kind, and no password or separate account is created. What is recorded, and how to have it removed, is set out in the privacy policy. A sign-in may be withdrawn at any time by writing to the address below.
Corrections
Corrections are welcome and are the main way the archive improves. Every seat record carries a reporting link. A correction that is confirmed against a source will be applied and the state page's revision date updated. Submitting a correction does not create any obligation on either side, and no payment is made or sought.
Availability
The site is hosted on a free static host and may be unavailable from time to time. No uptime is guaranteed. Pages may be revised, renumbered or withdrawn as the record is corrected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of India.
Changes
