Pre-2008 delimitation

The assembly maps India retired in 2008

In 2008, the boundaries of assembly constituencies across most of India were redrawn. The maps they replaced — on which every state election of the preceding three decades had been fought — have no consolidated public source. Boundaries publishes them, one state at a time.

About

What this is

The boundaries in force before 2008 derive, in most states, from the orders made under the Delimitation Act, 1972. The Delimitation Act, 2002 constituted a fresh commission working to the 2001 Census, and its orders took effect from 2008. The old maps went out of print with them.

Election archives, court records and constituency histories still refer to the retired constituencies constantly. This site exists so those references can be checked against the actual map. Each published state carries its pre-2008 constituency map in actual boundaries, a seat-by-seat record of what the 2008 order did to each constituency, and a short account of the state's delimitation history.
